Pakistan Sends 8,000 Troops to Saudi Arabia (সৌদি আরবে ৮ হাজার সেনা পাঠিয়েছে পাকিস্তান)

Online Desk: Amid the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran and rising tensions across the Middle East, Pakistan has deployed a squadron of fighter jets, drones, and more than 8,000 troops to Saudi Arabia for its security. The massive military deployment is believed to be part of a secret joint defense agreement between the two countries. Reuters published the special report on Monday, citing three senior security officials and two government sources. According to the report, Islamabad has sent a combat-ready force capable of supporting the Saudi military in the event of any new attack on Saudi Arabia. It is worth noting that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed this strategic bilateral defense agreement last year. Although the full terms of the agreement remain confidential, both countries have acknowledged that if either side comes under attack, the other will be obligated to assist in its defense. Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif previously told the media that the agreement had effectively brought Saudi Arabia under Pakistan’s nuclear protection umbrella. According to a government source, the secret agreement includes a special provision allowing the deployment of up to 80,000 Pakistani troops alongside Saudi forces to help protect Saudi Arabia’s borders if necessary. Security sources said that in early April, Pakistan deployed one squadron of fighter jets — around 16 aircraft — to Saudi Arabia. Most of them were JF-17 Thunder fighter jets jointly developed with China. In addition, two drone squadrons of the Pakistan Air Force were also sent there.
